Ralph Peterson(Updated 01/08/2024) I recently had a dream. I was standing in a gas station, in the candy aisle and as I was standing there I looked out the huge glass windows past the gas pumps and saw a man walking toward the gas station. He was tall, wearing a form fitting tight white tee-shirt, white jeans, and he had short blond hair.

(Since the time when I had this dream, I had a minister, Russell Wood of Firebase DFW, interpret the dream. Gas Station = Filling Station and Candy Isle = The Sweetness of the Holy Spirit.}

I watched as this man in white walked in the front door, past the cash registers and down the aisle right up to me. By that time, he was close enough to me that I could tell that this guy was about nine and a half feet tall and he was really buff. I mean this guy had bulging arms and huge muscles under his shirt. He was ripped! (Take Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and amplify him x2)

As he stood there looking down at me, I tried to joke with him. I said “Dude! You’re REALLY tall!” (Thinking that I needed to lighten the situation up a bit.) Let me tell you he was NOT in a joking mood. He pointed his huge finger in my face and said, “I’ve been watching you for months, praying in the spirit, keep doing it! It’s making a difference!” And he turned and walked out the front door of the gas station.

…And that’s when I woke up.

Wow! Let me tell you, that dream rocked my world. I have never been the same. Since that time, I’ve come to understand that praying in the spirit releases a shockwave of power. Let me explain it this way with a little history lesson.

At 5:30 a.m. on July 16, 1945, scientists detonated a plutonium bomb at the Trinity Test Site located at the U.S. Air Force base in New Mexico.

Side note, isn’t that an interesting name? “Trinity Test Site”.

With a power equivalent to around 21,000 tons of TNT the bomb detonated producing an intense light flash and ball of fire ripped up into the sky surrounded by a giant mushroom cloud reaching 7.5 miles in height and stretching approximately 40,000 feet across.

Side note: The desert sand, largely made of silica, melted and became a mildly radioactive light green glass, which they now call trinitite. The heat from the explosion was intense!

Seconds after the detonation, the dunamis power of the shockwave completely obliterated everything in its path, in every direction, for miles around. Observers 5 miles away, were knocked to the ground by the shockwave 40 seconds AFTER the bomb was detonated. (Get that? There was a delay before they ever felt the shockwave and it knocked down everything in its path!) The effects of that shockwave were felt over 100 miles away.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
(Acts 2:2)

THAT is what happens when you pray in the spirit! IT IS EXPLOSIVE! However, what you don’t see right away is the shockwave, or the radical change in the landscape of your life, resulting by you praying in the spirit. Yes, a Nuclear bomb causes major damage, but the REAL damage comes from the unseen wind of power, the shockwave.

“But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit.”
(Jude 1:20 Ralph E Peterson version not yet available in print.)

Praying in the spirit will cause a shockwave of change in your life, your situations, and even those around you. You may not see a big flash of light when you pray, but after time, you WILL see the results of the shockwave.

There is a book that I encourage you to read. It is “Walk of the Spirit/Walk of Power” by Dave Roberson. It is a FREE Kindle download on Amazon.
I’m on my 4th time through reading this book! He makes the following statement in the book.

…”when I speak to the mountain, the only question left between me and a walk of devil-stomping, mountain-moving power is this: Do I have the guts to pray until the power comes? Because it’s not a question of whether or not the power will come. It will come. The only question is, do I have the guts to stay in there until it does?
“But, Brother Roberson, I’m a businessman.” Then the Holy Spirit will come in power to your business.
“I’m a preacher.” Then He will come in power to your ministry.
The question is not “Will the power come?” When Jesus inspired these words in Jude 20, He took it out of all golden-tongued, speculative theology and put it into the realm of fact. And if Jesus said it, it is so whether you believe it or not. This isn’t a democracy. Jesus didn’t ask you for your vote. Your job is not to change God’s truth, but to find it.”
(pp. 173-174). Dave Roberson Ministries. Kindle Edition.

Kenneth E. Hagin made a statement that stuck with me. I have not been able to find the actual quote so I am paraphrasing.

“The greatest miracles in my ministry came after extended times of praying in the spirit.”
Kenneth E. Hagin

I encourage you to pray fervently in the spirit for a minimum of 20 minutes (OR MORE) every day! Check back with me in 6 months and tell me how your life has changed!

Remember what the angel said to me, “I’ve been watching you for months, praying in the spirit, keep doing it! It’s making a difference!”
